Another year of Hi-5 is coming to Channel 9 and the team just can't wait to be there, writes Victoria Young.
After an amazing first year, the members of Channel 9's Hi-5 - Tim Harding 22, Kathleen de Leon 22, Nathan Foley 20, Kellie Hoggart 25, and Charli Robinson 19 - are getting ready for a new year. Taking time in the break, Tim spoke to Super Scene about what its like being in the most energetic show on TV.
Q. What were you doing
before Hi-5?
A. I was at university
studying social work. A social worker is someone who tries to
help people who are having trouble in their lives. The wonderful
thing about doing social work is that it helped me to learn how
to communicate with people. That is an important part of any job,
but particularly acting.
Q. What other acting have
you done?
A. I've had walk-on roles
in Home and Away, Oscar and Lucinda and Strange Planet. I love
movies, that's where I want to go one day, and I'd love to direct
as well as act. But at the moment, Hi-5 is everything.
Q. You play the guitar and
the piano, have you ever been in a band before?
A. For the past five years
I've been in the band Compos Mentis, which is Latin for composed
of mind. We're a group of friends and we play funk and acid jazz.
But we can't really play much any more because all of us are
really busy doing stuff. But every now and then we get together
and have a jam.
Q. How did you get started
in the TV and film industry?
A. I started as an extra. I
walked into an agency and said I wanted to do some work in TV.
They said 'Ok, how's Friday?' and I got some work as an extra on
Home And Away.
Q. How was your first year
of Hi-5?
A. It's been absolutely
incredible. I don't think any of us could possibly have expected
it to go this well. It's been a rollercoaster.
Q. What's best about
working on Hi-5?
A. I love working with the
other guys. They are the most talented people I've ever had the
privilege to work with.
